Born Out of Love

Letshego, I named you before you were conceived.
Let anyone ask you; tell them that you knew love before you were born.
A child born out of love that’s what you are.

And if anyone asks you; tell them you knew love before Earth.
I gave birth to the thought of your smile on a Summers’ day eve.
I was wrapped around the warmth of his arms, with my heart pounding like beats of an African drum.

The song that played there, heavenly tunes understood by Gods’ angels.
Physical reactions of his fingers stroking my dark skin could not compare to the butterflies that moved me in reality.
His promises were sweet, the other half of me that helped me to see.

We functioned like two lungs that depended on each other;
I could not inhale if he did not exhale.
Yes he was like Adam and I was like Eve…

Made out of his rib, how could I deceive the same body that kept our souls in one temple?
This love was deep.
I could never forget how he made me feel.

But now I am free to give birth to new dreams.
If life was fair you would have been next to me…
with your eardrum near my womb,Listening to our baby’s heartbeat.

Letshego, I named you before you were conceived.
Let anyone ask you; tell them that you knew love before you were born.
A child born out of love that’s what you are.
And if anyone asks you; tell them you knew love before Earth.
